ABOUT US

PILLAR is an artist-run exhibition space in Concord, NH. With a maximalist approach to curation, they believe in exhibiting and celebrating a wide range of materials, studio processes, experimental approaches, cultural backgrounds, and artistic voices. Centered around defined curatorial themes, they work to make exhibitions reflect the current landscape of artmaking and make contemporary art accessible. They strive to connect New Hampshire artistic networks with collectors and a broader national stage.

Starting curatorial projects together in 2021 co-owners Mike Howat and Fallon Rae are working artists and curators in New Hampshire. They want to provide another space in the state to express contemporary curatorial voices with an emphasis on experimental works and incorporating installation. Both not originally from the state, but making NH home, they find a duty to bring in new voices to the area.

Their goal is to create a small welcoming environment in their gallery that gives everyone a chance to view art and ask questions about those who created it. Their lively openings usually include music to bring in another element included in the exhibition.
